Oil and Water

What can exist beyond the object? specifically our perceptions of objects. These recordings of fluid-shaped entities are made using opposing substances to discover what can be reached by consociating opposites. Different liquids affect light speeds, causing disruptions of visual imagery, creating their own reality as light speed changes going through them. Mixing these liquids by pouring them into each other creates entities that blend, erase, and transform each other through a forced process. I use specific liquids to conceal the objects they are poured on, obscuring the object, and morphing its form. I proceed by recording the transformations in real-time, mixing these opposing entities to mark the emergence of a new reality. Mixing oil and water is the definition of the polarized binary where a connection is not possible, but in this process, they blossom. This work represents the complex structures that define our perceptions through; digging more in-depth with a slight shift in our perspectives, we create unimaginable but possible new realities by using the tool of the constructed vision that is light itself.
